As I sit down to write this, I find myself thinking about the many lessons life has taught me—sometimes gently, sometimes with a heavy hand. I want to share some of those lessons with you, not because I have all the answers, but because I hope they might serve as little lanterns for you to carry on your own path.
1. Kindness is a strength, not a weakness.
People may mistake kindness for softness, but it’s one of the greatest powers you can carry. When you meet the world with compassion, you’ll not only help others—you’ll also keep your own heart light.
2. Failure is a teacher, not a verdict.
You will stumble. Everyone does. What matters is not the fall but what you choose to learn from it. Mistakes are just stepping stones toward wisdom, and wisdom is never wasted.
3. Protect your curiosity.
The world will try to tell you what is “normal” or “expected.” Never stop asking questions, never stop exploring, never stop imagining what else might be possible. Curiosity keeps life vivid.
4. Choose love over fear.
Fear will try to guide your decisions—fear of judgment, fear of failure, fear of not being enough. Love—love for yourself, for others, and for what you believe in—is the better compass.
5. Remember that you are enough.
You don’t need to earn your worth. It is not something the world gives you; it’s something you carry inside. Walk with the confidence that you belong exactly as you are.
As you grow, you’ll find your own lessons, your own truths, and maybe even contradict some of mine. That’s part of the beauty of living—discovering your own way, with courage and grace.
Know this: wherever you go, whatever you do, you are deeply loved. My greatest hope is that life meets you with wonder, and when it doesn’t, that you rise stronger and kinder than before.
With all my love,
Dad
